ANNOUNCEMENTS
It's always so quiet at the end of a Zoom online meeting when everyone signs out. Community so immediately becomes solitary that it is a shock to my system. Yet I know that we are all "Joined in Heart," even when out of sight and hearing distance.
The Church Council met this morning. Here are the updates:
Church Photos: If you ordered pictures when the directory photographers were here, you can pick them up at the Church Office on MONDAY, APRIL 27th from 10am-12noon. You can also pick up a copy of the Upper Room Devotional Guide at that time. Please wear a mask when entering the office area. Thank you!
Worship: Bishop Oliveto has strongly recommended that UM churches remain closed to in-person gatherings at least through the end of May. The "No More Than 10 People" public health rule is still in place, as is mask-wearing in public and 6 foot distancing. Our plan for worship in May is as follows:
May 3 - Zoom Online Worship
May 10 - MOTHER'S DAY - Parking Lot Drive-In Worship
May 17 - Parking Lot Drive-In Worship
May 24 - MEMORIAL DAY - Parking Lot Drive-In Worship
May 31 - Parking Lot Drive-In Worship
The same rules will apply that we use on Easter--everyone remains in their vehicle.
In addition, we may schedule an online Zoom fellowship gathering sometime during each week.
Thrift Shop: Will open Tuesday, May 5th. Shopping Hours will be Tuesday-Saturday 10am-1pm. Volunteers sorting hours will be Tuesday-Saturday 10am-4pm. All volunteers, staff members and shoppers will be required to wear masks. Only 8 shoppers will be allowed into the store at a time. These plans are subject to change as state and local rules change, and as we are able to protect the health of everyone involved.
Finances: The church's financial situation remains remarkably strong thanks to the generosity and commitment of all congregation members. We are receiving pledges and additional giving that are helping to cover church and salary expenses. Our end of April balance is --$4,150. While in the red, we are still managing much better than expected. Thank you!! Address for mailed-in contributions: P.O. Box 1016 Cortez, CO 81321
Hope's Kitchen is well-funded with approximately $20,000 in its account.
Children's Enrichment Program normally covers all its expenses with tuition payments, but the church is stepping up to be sure the teachers are paid.
Salaries for all church employees will continue to be paid through May 2020. This policy will be evaluated monthly by the Church Council.
Many thanks to our Church Council members for helping guide us through this challenging time!
